Atlanta / July 28, 2021. TEGRA, the leading US-based sports apparel manufacturing and supply chain provider is moving closer to opening “The Arena” the highly anticipated new manufacturing facility in Honduras. The facility is part of a larger corporate growth strategy to continue to differentiate itself as the leading apparel manufacturer in the Western Hemisphere with an unrivaled supply chain model.
As part of its growth strategy, Tegra is investing in several key areas including digital transformation initiatives, lean manufacturing programs, and modernization of facilities. The most significant of these investments is the construction of The Arena - a 650,000 ft² state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The innovative complex is currently set for an early Fall 2021 opening.
Tegra’s vision for The Arena involves creating a safe, employee-centered environment for its employees and an eco-friendly, sustainable facility for the community. It is designed to take sustainability and social responsibility to the next level with an emphasis on the speed and agility needed to support scalable growth without sacrificing high quality, cutting edge products.
Steve Cochran, TEGRA’s CEO says, “The Arena will allow the creation of innovative products that respond to customers’ production needs and support their environmental objectives in a faster, more efficient manner.” The Arena will be the company’s largest facility in Central America and the United States.
For employees, The Arena will have enhanced ergonomic workstations, modern health clinics, 3 spacious cafeterias, a gym, recreational areas, and other modern amenities. The environmental plans include wastewater treatment, advanced power management, energy efficient building and safe certified equipment, manufacturing waste reduction, and climate-controlled work areas. Future plans call for the addition of solar power.
The Arena will employee around 5,000 employees initially, the majority of which are current employees who are transferring from Tegra’s other Honduras plants. In order to ensure a seamless transition into The Arena, the priority will be on training existing employees.
The Arena has end-to-end process capabilities including:
• Screen Print
• State of the art product development center
• Laser cutting
The construction of The Arena will be one of many important investments supporting the economy of this thriving commercial city. The Kattan Group a well-established industrial group with roots in textile manufacturing that has grown into construction, industrial park operations, real estate, clean energy generation and communications, is a local collaborator with Tegra in the project.
